Staying connected with nature is important to us here at Nature Threads, we believe in the healing energy of nature – we need that now more than ever, making it important for us to stay connected with nature at home.
Whilst we, as always are working from home, our suppliers have their support & office team at home too. The robots, however, are home at work & with the factory fully stocked, Nature Threads orders are shipping normally.
We are currently working on bringing more nature-inspired designs to our store as well as taking time to connect with nature as much as we can right now. We hope some, if not all of these suggestions will help you to do the same.
1 – Stay Connected With Nature In Your Garden
If you have a garden big or small, or even a balcony, that’s the perfect place to connect right now. There are various ways to attract nature to your garden such as bird tables & feeders – this post by the RSPB covers what & when to feed garden birds. There are also surveys that you can take part in, such as The Butterfly Conservation’s Garden Butterfly Survey in the UK, this runs all year, every year & helps the Butterfly Conservation to understand what is fluttering behind your fence & helps them to monitor the garden butterfly population.
Depending on where you are there will be different versions of what we have mentioned above, if you find any, please do add them in the comments on this post for others to see.

2 – Turn Your Garden Into A Haven For Nature At Home
There is an array of online resources & blogs that will help you to understand how to work in harmony with & say connected with nature at home. This blog by Surburban Ecologist Carolle Huber explains how to make a difference in your own yard, Carolle has lots of great content on her Sustainable Landscapes Blog to help & inspire you in making your garden wilder.
3 – Nature Movies & Chill
Bring the beauty of the great outdoors to your own home with these 10 Movies That Will Make You Fall In Love With Nature
Nature movies & chill – ummmm, we’re in!
4 – Stay Connected With Nature Through The Stars
The skies are a little clearer right now, giving us more opportunity to gaze up at the stars & dream. It’s tricky, however, to know what the sky will look like at night. We use the Sky Live app to help us predict that & the Star Walk app to help us to understand exactly what constellations we are looking at in the night sky.
5 – List Nature Filled Places You Will Visit In The Future
Once you’ve gazed up at the night sky & connected with nature from home why not spend some time listing the places you would love to visit in the future. There are plenty of resources out there to keep you dreaming of adventure, including our very own travel, van life and adventure blog The Wilder Route.
We recommend getting a jar or a box, filling it with little folded up pieces of paper, ready to open when the time is right – remember, adventure always awaits!
For future planning – check out our fav ways to connect with nature through adventure.

6 – Enjoy Fresh Air & Sunshine At Home
Even if you live in an apartment, don’t pass up that opportunity to pull your chair up by the window & soak up the sun’s rays. In fact, wherever you live, now is the perfect time to stop & take time to enjoy the sunrise or sunset or to sit in those midday rays with a coffee & just soak them up.
Fresh air & sunshine = the perfect remedy!
7 – Take A Virtual Nature Tour – Stay Connected With Nature
Again, there are tons of these online & depending on which country you are in, what’s on offer & what will be of interest will vary.
The National Trust here in the UK are offering virtual tours of all of their properties
If you’ve come across anything that will help people to stay connected with nature virtually, please pop a link in the comments so that others can see & benefit from it too!
8 – Enjoy A Nature Filled Film Festival At Home
The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival have had to cancel their worldwide tour but they have put together a curated programme – bringing adventure & the great outdoors to our screens. This is a series of short films, around 8 -12 minutes each that will certainly feed the adventure lover in you!
9 – Ask Yourself Every Day – How Am I Connecting With Nature Today?
Sometimes a gentle reminder is all that we need. We have certainly found, with the constant changes going on right now, that it can be easy to spend more time than we normally would do updating ourselves with news which is, of course, ok but for us, it’s also important to spend time connecting with nature too. Just asking ourselves this question daily, serves as a handy check-in with ourselves & the nature that surrounds us.

10 – Remember You Are Part Of Nature Too
“Humans are a part of nature, not apart from nature” – Marc Behoff
Taking time to recharge & decompress will help you to reconnect with yourself & therefore with nature. There are plenty of ways you can do this & stay connected with nature at home. Some of our fav ways are to meditate, sit with a cup of chamomile tea not doing much at all or to read a good book.

Stay home, stay safe, be still, be inspired and stay connected with nature.
Now tell us, which of these ways will you be choosing to connect with nature at home?
